Waitlisted at WM, Possiblity at UVA?

I found out today I was waitlisted at WM. I thought I had a decent shot at getting in, but now I'm EXTREMELY nervous about UVA. I know this post has probably been posted by other members, but do I have a decent shot?

White Male from Virginia
(Extremely Rural County; One of the smallest in Virginia)

GPA
3.94/4.0 U.W
4.37 W

(I only got one B my entire high school career, and it will go up after first semester grades for senior year are in. I got straight A's)

Rank
2/217

ACT
29

I also have a legacy if that helps (Father received B.S. in Computer Science)

Senior Schedule - (First Semester Grades)
UVA Engineering 152 - A-
AP US Government - A
AP Calculus - A
AP English II - A
BRVGS Senior Internship - A
Honors Physics (Don't offer AP) - A+

Enrolled in a Gifted Program, along with taking all APs and Honor classes.

During 10th grade year, there was a problem with our gifted teacher and she deliberately gave everyone in the class a b. This dropped me out of first in the ranking. The board of supervisors and school board are deliberating on whether everyone should be awarded and A or a B, so my GPA/Rank may fluctuate

christianh…please stay positive. You have a great package…be positive about where you do get in and then write where you are waitlisted with an update and a statement of “Wm and Mary is my first choice.”…and have your GC also write on your behalf. Both schools have very good yields…but many many students do not take their acceptances.

it is a tough year out there and yields may actually increase due to the economy…but there will be some melt and some access made of the waitlists. Use dignity but also go after what you want with a follow up letter to admissions

and remember you have a strong work ethic…so bloom wherever you end up and stand out.

Christian, I’m no adcom rep, but I’d admit you. Relax. You’re probably IN.

OMG you didn’t get in?!?!

You just made a sophomore worry :(
