<p>How long does the waitlist period last?</p>
<p>Yo. Waitlisted from Cornell Engineering (too bad they don’t have GT). From what I’ve read, expressing interest is good. So you should send a letter saying that Cornell would be your number 1 choice if you were accepted; wax eloquently and all that rot. Send newer grades and some recent important awards; another teacher recommendation can’t hurt either.</p>
<p>Finally, you can do a gimmick. If you are a musical genius, compose the “Cornell Concerto,” etc.</p>
<p>I will be doing all of this; hopefully we’ll both get in. Except for the gimmick…I’m not really sure what a math/science person like me can do. I’ll have to think on that.</p>
<p>One last thing, though: don’t be too hopeful of getting off of the waiting list. The odds are low, but probably better than last year (44/~2200 were taken off of the waitlist) due to the special circumstances of applying this year. Still, it’s not good to be optimistic and then be crushed. Best of luck to you! (and me…)</p>

<p>I got waitlisted by the CoE too…</p>
<p>I’m going to send in a packet with some additional letters of rec, etc. Also, a letter to the basketball coach saying that I want to play for him, with some recent basketball awards I received.</p>
