Waitlisted. Don't know what to do

I got waitlisted from Boston college CSOM.
But I am unsure of what to do. I heard from people that writing a letter to Boston college and stating in the letter that I am willing to pay the full amount for admission to BC increases chances to get admission. But, I am unsure if I want to amount to over 200k in debt becuase of college. I actually got 20k from fordham school of management, but I dunno wanna dorm there, because I don’t wanna get shot in the bronx.

Any suggestions are appreciated

If you are accepted at Fordham and waitlisted at BC, you must make Fordham your primary focus for next year. While there is plenty of advice for what to do when waitlisted, nothing about getting off the waitlist and into BC is under your control.

You shouldn’t have applied to Fordham if you were so worried about the rampant shootings of Fordham students in the Bronx.

If you don’t want to pay the $200,000+ then don’t say you can.

If you have to take out loans to pay the entire cost of attending BC for 4 years (“over $200K in debt”), then you should just forget about the wait list and move on to one of your more affordable options.

If you are waitlisted and REALLY want to attend that school then, yes, go ahead and contact them and let them know you are still interested. I would hope that ‘offering’ to pay would have no bearing on whether or not you are admitted.

But as another poster pointed out - it is best to move on. Fordham is a wonderful school and it sounds like you’ve been offered a nice FA package. NYC is one of the safest cities in the US and Fordham has a cmapus that I think is one of the nicest I’ve seen. You’ll have access to all that NYC can offer!!
