WAITLISTED FROM SWANSON SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

Hello, this is my first post.
I’ve just been wait-listed from the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. I have the option of either

  1. staying on the wait list (if I am not accepted I cannot attend the school) or
  2. accept an offer to the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and sciences
If I choose the second option I can hopefully switch in to the Swanson School of engineering after completing the required classes my first year, but even then admission is not guaranteed and I would have to do well in all of my classes, which are very rigorous. I’m not sure which option to choose. I am very interested in UPitt. What are my chances of getting in if I stay on the weight list? I have a
    1900SAT
3.4 GPA (unweighted) with 5 AP classes, 10 honors classes.
5 extra curricular’s (captain on two of them)
    and very little volunteer work
I also haven’t always done the best in my science courses. I got an 80 in honors chem and an 87 in honors bio with a 87 right now in AP physics. I’ve always done well in math and my other classes (mostly As) but I am very interested in engineering.
Has anybody gone through this that could give me some advice. ANY ADVICE is much appreciated!!!

Hello, may I ask how you found out that you were wait-listed? Are you in State or out of State?

I got a letter in the mail yesterday. I’m out of state.
