@cinnabon1234 what if the applicant only applied to UCSC and UCLA?

I applied only to UCLA and UCB and got waitlisted at UCLA

If the applicant only applied to UCSC and UCLA, then UCLA’s score is what UCSC uses. Berkeley does not factor into this at all. Did you get accepted to UCSC?

That’s odd I had never heard about that. No I only applied to UCLA ucberkeley ucsd and uci. And I got accepted to ucsd uci and Cornell U.

It’s an interesting theory but I’m not sure how much weight it holds when it comes to predicting your Cal decision. Even if you applied to all three and got rejected from LA and into SC it doesn’t mean your Berkeley score is enough to get you in. UCSC is not as selective as Berkeley or UCLA so people with lower scores who would’ve been rejected from the first two probably get into SC.

The minimum score to get accepted to UCSC this year was atleast a 3.5 or a 3.0 (on a 1-5 scale, 1 being the best, 5 being the worst). I know this because I have friends who got a 4 on the review for UCSC and got waitlisted. So I’m presuming that UCB/UCLA’s cutoff (depending on the major/college) was around a 2.5 or a 2.75ish…

I’m going to call UCSC’s office and UCLA’s office and ask them for my scores on monday. I’ll report back once I do (I was accepted to UCSC, rejected to UCLA btw).

A holistic score of 4 may be in the “tiebreaker zone” for UCSC where some get admitted, some get waitlisted, and some get rejected.

Division and major can make a significant difference at Berkeley; see the [url=http://academic-senate.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/committees/aepe/hout_report.pdf]Hout report/url.

I got into UCSD, UCSB, UCSC, and UCD rejected from UCLA … UCB is it out of the question i did’t get a supplement or anything!
stats
29 act
3.6 uw 4.21 w i think 3.9 uc gpa
oos so…

oh yeah ucsc gave my merit scholarship as well but i was rejected from ucla so did berkeley give me a high score?

I got into UCSC for electrical engineering (which is probably one of the most competitive, if not THE most competitive major in UCSC). It’s cutoff mark is probably higher than the minimum score to get into UCSC as undeclared/any other major… soooo a 4 is definitely a waitlist though.

Not completely sure but from what I’ve heard, the top three UCs are getting less predictable. Most people say the order of selectivity is Berkeley then LA then SD, but I know people who have gotten rejected from SD and gotten into Berkeley, and things like that. It depends on your stats/statement…

A lot of people get into either UCLA or CAL- my older brother being one of them, and he applied for THE most competitive major at Berkeley. i was just waitlisted at UCLA, UCSD, pitzer, and accepted to UCSB, so I’m trying to keep an open mind even though CAL isn’t in my top choices. good luck guys :)

Not necessarily. UCLA and UCB readers may have given you scores (same or different) that easily get you into UCSC, but not necessarily UCLA or UCB (which may depend on division and major applied to, of course).

im just really upset about ucla I now don’t know where I am going to end up! college is a crapshoot
