So I just found out that I got waitlisted by both Georgetown and Johns Hopkins. Now for some questions:

How many people generally get waitlisted (both Gtown and JHU)?

How many waitlisted students usually get accepted?

Is there anything I can do to increase my chances to get admitted (i.e. send more recommendations or more essays?)

If I do possibly get offered acceptance, will there be any financial aid available?

If you can answer any of these, please go for it! And congrats on those of you who got in!

I would like to know the same things too!

I was waitlisted too, and would like to know these things as well.

This is discussed several topics down. Last year none were taken but several years ago many were. Obviously it depends on their "yield" from the accepted pool.

is there any way of hearing back from jhu earlier than mid may?

Check out the following discussion thread on the JHU Forums regarding the Wait List at Hopkins for this year. My initial post contains answer to the most frequently asked questions we get about the wait list each year. If you have further questions about the Hopkins wait list, I suggest asking them on that discussion thread as we will be checking it more often than CC:

Thanks so much AdmissionsDaniel! This cooperation and interaction with students is the reason so many more applicants are applying to JHU than ever before!!! I got waitlisted, but I still feel like I was part of this whole process (mainly b/c of Hopkins Insider)!

kornpopz - Thanks for the comment. I like hearing that even though the decision you received on Wednesday is not what you wanted, you still appreciate the hard job my colleagues and I have.

Do use the Wait List Discussion Thread that I linked above, as we will answer any questions and when we have updates we will post.
