Good luck to those waitlisted. Brown seems great...my sister loved it!!!

it makes me mad how some of us who have AT LEAST decent stats, essays, and extracurriculars got waitlisted/rejected and ppl like this:

"omg, i cant believe i got in, i got 1460 and decentish gpa, i dunno, my essay was about how i liek weed so they probably think im unique"

got in.

Rejected. Ah, well. Just shows how extremely hard it is to make the cut at schools like Brown. Good luck to all of you who did--and to you waitlistees as well!

holy crap hindoo how did you get rejected? you must have gotten into many other good schools. now i don't feel so bad about getting waitlisted :/

Who knows, funfetti? (Did get accepted at other good schools, though, happy enough.) Being waitlisted at Brown is an achievement in its own right. Again, good luck.

Yeah, Hindoo...It just goes to show how unpredictable these admissions can be...Some people have gotten into Harvard and denied admission at Brown for example.....I think that it is good to know this, so that people feel a little "less" horrible about the rejection.... Darn !

SAT: 2310
SATII: 2360(Lit, Bio, USHIST)
GPA: 3.8/4 (top 20%)
Double Legacy, Great Recs (especially from guidance counselor), excellent essays, excellent (though not national) EC's, National Merit, etc.

I got in to Northwestern, I'll probably just go there.

Hey arbiter, good luck at Northwestern. (Sorry about Princeton. If I were Princeton Admissions I would have let you in, and myself too.) We can just hope for waitlist reversal now.

Thanks. If I like NU enough after my visit, I'll make sure to open another spot for you on the waitlist :P

it makes me mad how some of us who have AT LEAST decent stats, essays, and extracurriculars got waitlisted/rejected and ppl like this:

"omg, i cant believe i got in, i got 1460 and decentish gpa, i dunno, my essay was about how i liek weed so they probably think im unique"

got in.

it's funny, it's true

Right. Cuz liking weed doesn't really make you unique -- everyone is doing it, and, while I personally refrain from drugs, on my visit I saw at least 2 Brown students "toking it up."

feungshuibundi: your counselor rec did not kill it, I remember back like 2 years ago when I applied as a freshman, that had an admission officer come to our school... we're a decent size school and someone brought up the question that if our counselor doesn't know us that well, would it hurt our application: the answer was no. She said that she came from a big school herself, and the counselor didn't even know who you were unless you came in for scheduling.

It would probably help if your counselor wrote amazing stuff, but it shouldn't damage your application if she just wrote the generic: "good student, good grades, good ECs... etc."

Come on dudes,..let's not lose perspective here..I do not believe that Brown students are "toking it up" more than Harvard's, Berkeley's, Georgetown's or any other college for that matter...I know that it must be horrible to have the disappointment of not getting accepted but let's not stretch out the reality of the admission process.....

waitlist is fake. look at numbers 2577 admitted (class 2011) and Dean said will be finally enrolled only 1485 from this list. Chances to be in ==0.000001%
