@UofMichigan1999 ~15,000 offered waitlist, ~5,000 accept to be waitlisted, less than 2% accepted from waitlist on average.
@pgh123
Hey sorry, i got the same initial email as you. The response I put up there was the response after I emailed my regional counselor. But based on someone else’s response, I think that’s their general script of what to say.
@UofMichigan1999 they’re getting hopes up for people for no reason
@quiteabeaan you send 2nd semester grades only if you got in, for waitlist I don’t think so, but some people send them to increase their chances.
they only rescind apps if you have 3 C’s or more, or 1 D, E, or F
still waiting for my decision. beyond frustrated. if i’m waitlisted i’m declining because i’m sick of waiting. good luck everyone
Does anyone know if you could get off the waitlist you might be able to be accepted into LSA Honors ?
@tganns I’m just making an assumption here, but no, probably not honors.
It’s a crapshoot to get in off the waitlist anyways, but they would fill honors with people they’ve already accepted into it, or probably offer it to someone in LSA. Highly doubt from the waitlist. Just my guess though.
If we’re waitlisted, should we send second semester grades?
@Axlevision22 Yes. You school should have automatically uploaded them into Navigance and the Common App in any case. If not, send them. If admitted, your school will be requested to provided you final transcript in any case.
Should we send a letter of interest?
do we know UMich’s c/o 2021 total acceptance rate??
well they got more than 58,000 apps and accept prob around 15900 so like prob around 27% this year @nikhil99
Someone at my school got in off the waitlist. I’m not kidding. There goes my chance of being the one accepted since they probably pick and choose the best students from a single area. Dreams crushed again. Ohh well. Life goes on.
@UofMichigan1999 weird usually waitlist acceptances don’t come out until after the may 1 deadline because many people have not committed yet and they have to get the final numbers. just make sure to send in your final transcript and send a letter of interest to umich saying why you are still interessted, what you can contribute, and that if accepted to umich you will defeinitely go (this last part is important because they dont want to accept a waitlist student who will reject their offer). good luck! I know a guy at my school who got off the waitlist the end of june but still just went with msu.
My son was wait-listed in March of 2015 and accepted July 1 2015. Double legacy at the time. Don’t give up!
Somewhat unusual for a wait-list to be accepted at this time.
To Whom specifically should the letter of interest be addressed? Thanks!
For all those who need some hope, someone in my class got in who was on the waitlist. So yes, they are selecting a some off the waitlist already which is unusual because why place them on the waitlist in the first place but yup it’s happening…I guess they’re seeing how many people are starting to take back their apps (who’ve committed elsewhere) and going from there. And yes this is a true not a lie
If you manage to get off the waitlist and get accepted, what are your chances of getting good scholarships, like the HAIL scholarship?
Is it normally 2% acceptance rate for WL?
@yaya9898 it depends on the year but these were the waitlist statistics from last year acccording to collegeboard
Wait list Statistics
Offered place on wait list 11,197
Number accepting place 3,970
Accepted from list 36
so it was about 0.9% last year
The rate varies a lot year to year. It may be higher this year if they really admitted less than 15000 and the yield rate is not higher than 44%.
