I was waitlisted for the class of 2010 and managed to get it. I made it very clear that I wanted to go in an extra letter, my advisor sent another letter, and I visited Grinnell again to meet with an admissions representative. I was one of the first people accepted off of the waitlist and I found out May 12.

My advice is that you really need to show interest if you want to get in.

Thanks for the advice- I have been fairly persistent about submitting additional information and keeping in touch with the admissions rep for my area.

Apparently numbers will be low this year, but the waitlist will be utilized- I am very anxious to see if I will recieve an admissions offer.

Thank you for waiting patiently for our response to your status as an Alternate List candidate at Grinnell College. We are sorry to report that we are unable to offer you admission this fall. We wish we had the space to admit every qualified student who applies, but we had more than 440 admitted students respond positively to our initial letter of admission and we hope to enroll only 415 new students.

We genuinely appreciate the time and enthusiasm you committed to your Grinnell application. If you continue to have an interest in us, we encourage you to consider reapplying as a transfer student.

Again, thank you for your patience. You have our earnest best wishes for a successful and enjoyable college career.
