Waitlisted... what to do?

Hey guys, I'm still really interested in Villanova University even though I got waitlisted. Is there anything I could possibly do to potentially make my chances to get in from waitlist higher?

Also, why do colleges get back to people so late from waitlist? I feel like it is stupid when most other universities require a deposit by May 1st, and if they get into their waitlisted school and choose to go there, they lose their first deposit.

still looking for answers

This may not tell you what to do but here are some numbers. In 2011 Villanova admitted 152 from the waitlist and in 2010 they took 454.

To get in off the waiting list here are some ideas:

  1. Get your guidance counselor to call and express your desire to attend with
some good things to say about you
  2. Write a letter to Villanova to update your profile (any awards won,
    any new community service, etc)
  3. In your letter, state that Villanova is your number 1 choice of schools
and that you will come if admitted
  4. Visit campus again - check in at the admissions office to let them know
that you are there and that you are very interested in attending
  5. Make an appt to meet a faculty member in your dept. Talk with them
and see if they will support your application after your visit.
  6. Call the admissions office every week to check the status of the waiting
list. Be sure to identify yourself. After a while, they will realize the
    level of your interest.
These are some ideas and it is important to do the ones that feel comfortable to you.
You are trying to convey to the ADCOM that you are ready and willing to attend.
Good luck! Be confident and persistent.

I heard the school of business took none off waitlist last year, so if thats where you want to be,be prepared

Thank you very much!

The letter that my son received said not to call the admissions department.

Do you know how many students were waitlisted in 2011?

From Villanova’s 2011 common data set – 4950 applicants were offered a place on the wait list, 2272 accepted a place on the wait list, and 152 were admitted from the wait list. You can see that at
