Does anyone know the actual number of how many people were wait listed?

Hopefully one of you can have our slot. My D was accepted but won’t be attending U of R. After doing our FAFSA in January we were shocked to see that we have an EFC of $50,000 (based on the fact we have some money in the bank, but not enough to pay $200,000 for college; current income does not leave anything over to pay or save for school)…anyway received no merit or financial aid from U of R; had hoped for some merit aid because D is her school’s valedictorian, and we are local to the area (at one time U of R was trying to court Virginia students). So we will decline, although we love U of R, it is a beautiful school and a wonderful liberal arts and business school. D accepted at Virginia’s two highest ranked state schools, William and Mary and UVA, so that’s no sloppy second choices there…and got a decent scholarship from Smith, so one of those 3 will be her choice. Good luck to all. This is a crazy, stressful time for the kids and the parents both!

Mama - don’t ya just love the EFC calculation!

In the same boat here as VirginiaMama. We already have one full ride D at UR. Our son got in UNC (in state) and William and Mary (offered in state tuition through Monroe), so we’ll be deciding between those and SMU where he got great scholarship $ and honors program in Cox Business School undergrad. Hard decision. It is frustrating how UR allocates the merit money. Can’t swing $200K for each of two children; the first one is killing us! He’ll open up a spot for someone and I hope that makes someone on the waitlist very happy…!!

D will decline WL too-but it’s not opening a slot really-there are extra on the WL just as there are extra admitted

Hopefully one of you can have our slot, too. D has already declined her acceptance - no merit or financial aid from UR. She is down to 2 wonderful schools which offered her great scholarships- Hillsdale and Rhodes. Best of luck to all still deciding.

hey hey, same here!! I really like Holy Cross but I was waitlisted there as well. Can’t win.

AHN, I was waitlisted at both Holy Cross and Richmond too!
@nh1998 - This is a 4 year old thread… Maybe you knew that already. But just in case you didn’t.
