4.2 gpa 2100 sat, decent ecs, what gives? i know people with 3.0 1900 who got in…

I just think they wait list highly qualified students like us… (stats 2070 SAT I 800 Math II 800 Physics 3.62 GPA)

I don’t think they just wait list highly qualified students, I have a 4.4 UC gpa and a 2170 SAT and I got in, but all UCs have experienced an increase in applicants, so I agree athat the admissions are all over the place/random!

I got in with a 3.725 UC GPA and 1780 SAT. Yeah, admissions are pretty random, haha. I’m still really happy to have gotten in though :)

Yeah they’re pretty random alright. I’m the least qualified person to even be waitlisted. 3.4ish GPA, 1740 SAT, 29 ACT. I guess my extra curriculars and statement were good enough for me to even be put on that list with you guys hahaha.

well its definitely disheartening… i guess i can say goodbye to sd, la, or even irvine for that matter…

Me too. :(

im sure those highly qualified people will get into ucla or cal. just cuz you got waitlisted at one not so highly recognized school doesn’t mean you won’t have a chance at other schools. so keep your head up!

Im extremely surprised OP didnt get in, i had 29 ACT and 4.2 and i got in to bio. Unremarkable ec’s as well.

I got waitlisted too, applied for genetics. I had a 3.85 UC GPA and a 33 ACT (35 science) with 5s on my bio AP exam and a 780 on my bio-m sat II.

That is something really confusing. Did you apply to UC Berkeley?

I didn’t. I applied to UCD, UCSD, UCSB, and UCI. I have only heard back from Davis so far… quite disheartening, especially because I figured I had a shot at UCSD. Guess not D:

30% for waitlistees

They probably wait list people with a less rigorous schedule too. They want to see that you’re challenging yourself and taking difficult courses.

I got waitlisted too
4.2 GPA/2180 SAT/31 ACT/5 APs

**** this I’m not waiting until May

At my school, Davis had admitted students well under “average”. I honestly think that this time around, decisions were more, well, random.

kind of freaking out…*** is going on with admissions?
2040 SAT, 4.18 gpa and insane amount of EC’s/leadership and good essays and I get wait listed…
now I am scared there is no hope for me regarding UCLA UCSD UCSB

I think we are unable to view each other’s applications here so we basically have no idea how to distinguish overqualified students from underqualified students. There must be something or some reasons I believe that make them get accepte or rejected. Being overqualified does not only mean SAT or GPA but there must be other aspects as well.
