Waitlisted?

send back late deposits????? What does it mean??
Does it mean that Columbia doesn't accept admitted students who sent deposits after May 1????

they can't guarantee a spot if u submit after may 1. obviously, an admitted student would probably get preference over a waitlisted one, but im not really sure how it works. i guess if the number they want is filled by may 1st, the old motto rings true: u snooze, u loose.

NE idea what the wl statistics are? like the size and how much they are drawing off of it? Thanks

i gave up my spot so hopefully the best applicant gets it

omg i'm going crazy.. please please pleaaaase just LET ME KNOWWWW T____T

does anyone have any idea when we will start finding out, how many they will take off the list, and how we will be finding out??

This is from Columbia website..

Students holding a space on the first-year and transfer waitlists will be notified immediately if a space becomes available and we would like to offer you a spot in the Class of 2010. We will also notify any remaining students holding a space on the waitlist (in the event we are not able to offer you a spot) as soon as we have definitive information. Please do not call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to check on your waitlist status, as we will be unable to provide you with any additional helpful information.

they still don't know if spaces are available, while many other schools have moved to the list...? T_T

Is it too late to send them the one-page supplementary statement? Columbia was my #1 choice. I really haven't won any new awards, but I wanted to write an essay about how I really want to attend columbia because its doing the research that I desperately want to be a part of. What does everybody think?

Good luck to other waitlisters!

I personally think it is a little late, but it doesn't hurt to just send it. I just sent in my 4th quarter progress report today as a last desperate attempt to get off the waitlist.

Do you think people get a significant better chance of getting off the waitlist if we did send something?

Sorry for the double post. Anyways, how are people notified? By phone, e-mail, letter?

Am I supposed to receive an email notification from Columbia that they've received my Waitlist Commitment card? I'm worried my card never reached them...

Notification through FedEx...I received mine on May 18. Off the SEAS program - The surprising thing was that I didn't even expect to get off; I did not send them any update or transcript etc, but the regional admissions officer got in touch with my counselor and she said she knew by tues, but I only got the package Thursday evening. He told her that apparently only 5 got off the waitlist this year (this could just be for Fu). Good luck people!
