I just got my letter from Bates College. I applied to transfer from Smith College with a 3.6 GPA, great EC involvement, good recs, three visits to Bates, Bates student recommendations...the WHOLE 9 yards. I even went up there to volunteer judge for one of their debate tournaments.

So they waitlist me. Thanks Bates College. A Lot.

Has anyone here been waitlisted as a transfer? What did you do to get in? What more could they possibly want??

oh dear... i hope i dont get waitlisted. sorry to hear that, and i wish you luck... i know it's a might painful situation. last year, i was waitlisted at 5 of the 6 schools to which i applied, each of which eventually rejected me. maybe as neverborn said, it just involves submitting grades. call and find out! good luck!

I am sorry to hear this has happened to you. Maybe it was because you tried too hard? Having students from the school write you recommendations seems a bit contrived.

Apparently Bates encourages students to write prospies recommendations after they spend the night. who knows, I didn't ask for it. My host offered to do it and sent me a copy after it was submitted.

don't be too hard on yourself... i was accepted as a freshman, went to cornell instead, and just got flat-out rejected from bates as a transfer with a 3.8 from cornell engineering... bates doesn't seem to be what i would call "transfer friendly"

O CRAP, ru kidding

i thought if u were accepted previously, ur a LOCK, is this a joke

Me, U of Chicago, Rice probably means a rejection in the future , *** i didnt think this could be possible

it definitely stings though... i still have my freshman acceptance letter that basically says "congratulations! we want you" and now, a year later, they're like "we're sorry, you're not good enough"

Oh, then in that case, I can't think of any reason why you would get rejected toher than the fact that admissions makes no sense. I am sure that you have a great future ahead of you. I know that I am just giving the the mandatory BS sympathies, but is there anything that anybody could say that would make the pain go away? Ultimately you have to realize your inherent worth outside of what school you get into. I have to work on this too. I haven't got any decisions yet, but I am sure I will feel the same way as you do if I get rejected. I am sure that I will be depressed and want to walk through central baghdad wearing an American flag, but after a few days, I'm gonna try to suck it up and push on with my life.
