Ill cut to the chase: if I got crappy grades second trimester (not included in my midyear report), should I basically give up on being accepted off waitlist?
Hey, I was waitlisted yesterday, too. I wouldn’t say you should give up, but lower grades definitely won’t help.
Does anyone know how many people were waitlisted, and how many Johns Hopkins accepts every year?
anywhere from 0 to 50 out of 1000+ usually
That’s insane. Are any of you guys updating the college?
@Sajidur4 What do you mean by that?
@pianogeek like, are you going to write a letter of interest… Etc?
@Sajidur4 ohh. Yeah, I mean I’ll send the regional admissions officer an email with letter of interest, which will include updated resume (although not much to add tbh.) Not gonna put too much effort into it though because ugly grades second trimester, although I am taking the toughest courseload in my grade (5 APs). It’s whatever though
@pianogeek A recent article stated that JHU accepted a record number of students into its class of 2019… That’s insane because more people are likely to enroll which means we are less likely to be removed from the waitlist
But they admitted about 500 fewer students than last year according this article http://hub.jhu.edu/2015/03/27/johns-hopkins-class-of-2019 and common data set from last year! @Sajidur4 so that would mean more availability for spots…maybe…?
I think you read the title wrong…it says “record applicant pool” not “record acceptance rate”
@pioanogeek Wow, I think I did read that wrong. That is a little relaxing. Thanks!
@Sajidur4 haha it’s okay, so you do think we should have a better chance than last year then…?
@pianogeek I have been reading on CC about how JHU didn’t offer much aid to students who really need it. So, some students are contemplating on whether to attend with a student loan or go to a state college. Maybe our chances are better. I’m still trying to find more admission statistics, but cannot find any.
“2008 - Approximately 50 student were admitted from the wait list.
2007 - Approximately 80 students were admitted from the wait list.
2006 - No offers of admission from the wait list.
2005 - No offers of admission from the wait list.
2004 - Approximately 150 students were admitted from the wait list.
2003 - Approximately 100 offers.
2002 - No offers.
2001 - Approximately 50 offers.
2000 - No offers.”
This is all that I found from this blog post: http://hopkins.typepad.com/hopkins_insider/wait_list/
A bit outdated.
@Sajidur4 Yeah I saw that too. And the common data sets. Idk JH is usually really late in notifying applicants too (mid May), according to past CC posts. Good thing I’m wicked impatient -_-
@pianogeek That’s so nerve-racking. I want to know whether to take my last few months easy or be studious. sigh hopefully, IVY day goes well.
@Sajidur4 hahaha just got waitlisted from Gtown too. This is effing fantastic
@pianogeek oh, man… That sucks. Some of my friends got wailisted too
My 3rd quarter grades are ok, though slightly lower than my 1st and 2nd quarter…should I send them in?
