Waitlisted!

So who else got waitlisted today? This was the worst letter I have ever received from a college. I am used to either getting accepted or rejected in the first sentence. It took them till the MIDDLE OF THE SECOND PARAGRAPH to tell me I was waitlisted.

Hehe it's okay...I didn't really want to go all the way to New York from SoCal anyway ;)

Stats:
GPA: 4.1
SAT: 1310/750/630/620
ACT: 31
Decent essays and ECs, good recs.

I was waitlisted as well, eh....
which school did you apply to?

this sucks.... nyu was my first choice, i'm ****ed

1490/800/770/750, 3.8

10% chance, i dont like those odds

I applied to CAS for Civil Engineering

I applied to CAS and got waitlisted. I never thought I would get in, so I am actually kind of excited. I never had it high on my list, but now that I got waitlisted I would definitely go there if I got in off the list.

upwardbound which school did u apply to?

CAS, i'm very disappointed

upwardbound, how do you know there's a 10% only of getting off the waitlist?

I don't know about upwardbound but, my waitlist letter said that in previous years there were ~1700 kids placed on the waitlist and ~175 of those kids were offered admission. Thus, 10%.

waitlisting seems so cruel and arbitrary. what makes the adcom decide whether one person should be waitlisted and another flat out rejected?
