waitlisted?

Anybody else on the waitlist? Or know of anyone who actually got in after being waitlisted? I didn't even know they had one...

dude I was on the waitlist for fall 2009 and didnt get accepted with 2.8 gpa and sorry to say it but I dont think there is any chance for us to get into csulb if they put us on waitlist .they waitlist so many people that if there is an empty spot you have to compete with like 400 people for your major. but try appealing and push for it i hope you get in as i wasted one year on my life not getting accepted to any universities.

thanks for the insight. that’s kind of what i was expecting. my gpa is like 3.3 and anyway it seems like they want to make me wait past the may 1st deadline since some people won’t decline their offer until the last minute. i can’t wait around for them to decide whether i’m good enough, so it looks like i’ll just enroll somewhere else.

Someone just posted this link a transfer thread and reading the Planning Memoes I saw that their is a lot of waitlist information in there.

[IR Enrollment Planning Reports](http://daf.csulb.edu/offices/univ_svcs/institutionalresearch/ep_reports/index.html)

i got waitlisted, too. i’m planning on staying on the list, but i know it’s a slim chance that i’ll get accepted.

Waitlisted too but got into UC Davis! yay! :]

^Aaah, I guess if there’s no final decision given when the majority of others hear, it’s an indication for being waitlisted. Many congrats, naixn92, on getting into UCD. Will it be UCD or CPP now? My son was a bit disappointed to not get in to UCD - his stats were higher than those posted and he had great ECs, but I really think those with 1st gen, hardship, etc. got first dibs on the available seats (which a many fewer), as they should. He was waitlisted for CE at UCI, but doesn’t intend to follow though on that one. He’s excited for CSULB, turns out 3 of his longest-known friends got in, too, which came as a complete shock - he’ll be glad to continue those friendships.

I’m waitlisted too (3.6 GPA) but it’s kind of messed up for them to expect people to just decline all the other schools just to chance a spot at LB. I’m gonna just go with my second choice

@otc2010, Thanks! I am probably going to go to UCD because of the location (close to home) and well… its a UC and I’m sure the CE department isn’t bad at all. Was your son waitlisted as well to CSULB? I don’t know what happened there, maybe they picked more students in the area than outside. Is your son going to CPP?
Well, anyway, good luck to you and your sons and his future endeavors! I’m sure he’s going to do great!

question for those who have been waitlisted for csulb:

when they send u the letter or notification of being waitlisted, do they tell you how close you are to admission? do they tell you what number you are on their list?

@naixn92 He was accepted at CSULB a while back and plans to attend. I’m glad to hear you’re going with UCD over CPP - didn’t want to say anything earlier to influence you. My son and his dad did an extensive tour of UCD this past summer, including their engineering and labs. He was as impressed as he was with the eng/labs at CPP. It was the “everything else” that would have made him pick UCD; riding a bike to class, GREAT food, great dorms, tons of clubs, great sports - CPP just doesn’t offer any of that. I’m glad to hear you’re going for the “whole college experience” - enjoy! And, congrats again, with an essay I’m sure your application shined!

no, they just tell you you’re on the list. and i mean even though csulb was my dream school for a very long time, i’m not going to put it all on the line for a slim chance at getting in just to end up at a community college.

at least you got a chance at csulb, debtsxtopay. but if you got in elsewhere, def go for it. i dont blame you. i think ill prob be waitlisted, so im just fishing for any info.

do you know how long they will keep you on the waitlist? is it til may? or longer?
and, how did you find out? phone, letter, email?

@otc2010, oh that’s great for your son then! is he going to live on campus? i heard csulb forces first-time freshmen to live on campus this year!

It’s okay, thanks! UCD sounds awesome, i’m going to visit (for the first time) on the 16th, for the UCD Decisions Day. I hope i’ll like it there.

@artsyal
you can call the number on their website to check your admissions status:)
also, they sent me an email telling me i was on the wait list and asking if i would like to hold my place on the list

I got waitlisted
but i got into cal poly :slight_smile:
what kind of stats do other waitlisters have ??

yeah i got waitlisted but i got into cal poly as well:)

@honeyxhoney,

thanks for the info, and congrats on calpoly! what will u major in?

i’ve been calling that number everyday. checking my mail and email. nothing yet. hope im at least on that wait list.

anyone here an art major?

@artsyal

Thanks!:slight_smile: but i got into cal poly as an english major and seeing as they are more of a tech/business/agricultural school i dont know if i will go there:/ I appealed to UCSC and Davis so i am waiting for thos decisions(veryyyyy slim chance haha:) )

if we accept the wait-list offer, and do not get in, we are not allowed to attend any of the other schools we’ve gotten accepted at, right? So it’s all a huge risk?
