Does anyone know how many people get in off the waitlist from year to year? What can I do to help myself get in? I’ve already visited, and my dad is alumni (which is a strong reason why I’m on the waitlist in the first place, not that I’m not qualified).

My daughter has been accepted, but is not going to Brown. Maybe you’ll get her spot!

Last year they took less than 50 students I believe. My D was on waiting list but ultimately did not get in. She wrote a letter telling Brown how much she wanted to go there as it was her top choice school. In D’s class last year, 2 students applied ED. One student had a brother already attending Brown, but he was deferred into the RD pool and ultimately rejected in RD pool, didn’t even get waitlisted. The other had relatives who attended Brown who was accepted ED. These 2 were identical in SAT scores and right next to each other in class rank so anything can happen! College admissions are hard to understand. The important thing is that college is what you make of it and what you learn when you’re there, whether its at Brown or another university. D is very happy where she is, enjoys all her classes and doesn’t believe she could be happier at any other university including Brown. Good luck.
