Holy s*** that just made my heart drop. But yeah there are a record number of cross-admits this year so I’ve got a hunch they’re gonna admit quite a few. Good luck to everyone!

2 years ago the first admitted group was notified May 4th even though they said May 15th-July 1st. That year they took a lot of people off the waitlist, so I guess that may have been why they started early. I think they’ll do the same this year, considering all the cross-admits. Most people have been choosing HYP over Columbia so we may be in luck this year.

Oh geez, fingers crossed. And toes.

Any idea of how many (of the 3500 waitlistees) stay on the waitlist? Cause taking 80 (as they do most years) out of 3500 doesn’t exactly bode well…

And yeah, applications to most top colleges skyrocketed this year (e.g. princeton went up 19%), so there will be more cross-admits this year. Hopefully this means yield at mid-range ivies -columbia, penn- goes way down =P

how many people were waitlisted this year?

Hey guys! What email address did you send the letter to? ugrad-ask? I know there’s also a ugrad-online…

I sent mine directly to my regional admissions officer

I sent mine to ugrad-ask@columbia.edu

Thanks for the input!

How do you find your regional admissions officer? Maybe it wouldn’t hurt if I did that too just in case.

I mailed mine to the Admissions Office a bit ago…I think I’ll email them today too.

This is sooo much more intense than regular decisions. :)

I am thinking about writing a letter too. What did you write exactly? Did Columbia released the number of waitlists this year?
I hope they will take students off the waitlist this year.
All the best to all of you…

@seung37: I sent mine to ugrad-confirm :S Did you get any reply from ugrad-ask?

I sent mine to ugrad-confirm as they told me to sent it to that address. I sent it yesterday, and they confrimed it already!

Sooo I called the Admissions Office today and requested to speak to an Admissions Officer. Apparently, they don’t allow that.

I mean I completely respect that, but was kind of surprised because most schools even let applicants talk to Admissions Officers when they’ve been rejected.

Ahh well let’s see how it goes :)

Damn does ANYBODY know if and when Columbia will be releasing waitlist decisions!?

I know it’s hard to wait, but seriously we will all be better off if we just chill out and think about the great schools that we’ll be going to next year :)

Anyone know HOW they’ll notify people?

Haha, got three calls from a (515) # today, which is just east of columbia in NY, but i never managed to get to the phone in time That’s not columbia’s area code (212), but it still made me a bit nervous…

blargs… this is SO MUCH more stressful than regular decisions, b/c it can come anytime in the next two months or so, but there’s a very slim chance it actually will D:

Cellochick92, did you call back? :)

Anddd doesn’t Columbia email the info instead? That’s what I got from stalking 2012’s threads.

No, i got too scared and figured if it was really important they would call again…

And where did you find said 2012 thread??? I looked and can’t locate it…
