Waitlists 2022 (Class of 2026) that have closed

Probably depends where they are relative to their net revenue target then, but if under enrolled and/or under revenue we aren’t talking about selective schools. Many less selective schools are still taking applications/enrolling for the Fall.

This discussion is helpful. I see that schools like Harvard have tiered waitlist rejections where it seems to go in waves… but Princeton for example just closed their waitlist in mid May and seemed to notify everyone basically all at once. It’s just hard to believe that a school like Princeton would not want to backfill freshman enrollment despite the “summer melt”. Why not give students more opportunities and at the same time collect some additional tuition revenue?

Depends on the year. There have been years when they just went to the wait-list once, or not at all

Princeton is not hurting for revenue. They are limited by bed space. When they want to increase their student population, they would build more dorms. Which they (and Yale, as another example) have done. Yes, they will figure out how to accommodate when they are a few students over their target, but much higher detracts from their mission.
