Should i be worried that im waitlisted for two of my classes, and am currently only enrolled in two, as an incoming freshmen with unit requirements for Fafsa. and another thing, if im waitlisted for a class, how do i know if i need to appear , and if i do need to appear, would i show up to the lecture or the dicussion?

According to this (https://students.ucsd.edu/finances/financial-aid/applying/requirements/enrollment.html), they re-evaluate the number of units at the end of the add period (end of week 2, unless it’s changed). So you’ll have until the end of week 2 to figure out how many units you’re going to be enrolled in.

If you’re waitlisted for the class, you should still go to it if you’re going to stay on the waitlist so that you can keep up with the material if you get into the class. You don’t want to get into the class during week 2 and have no idea what’s going on because you didn’t go to class during the first week of school. You don’t have to go, if you don’t want to, unless you’re waitlisted for a lab class, but it’s a good idea to go.

It depends on what class you are waitlisted in. If the class has a really high capacity and discussion sections aren’t required, then you’re likely to get in from my experience. It also depends on # of your position.

Speak to your professor at the end of lecture on the first day, he might be able to help. The TA’s can sometimes help too. Just appear to the first section anyway (usually week 2) and let the TA know about your situation and see what he can do for you.

If you are really worried I suggest to be safe, enroll in another class during the first day, any class that’s still open, maybe for an elective so that you are officially enrolled in at least 3. So if the end of week 2 you are still on the waitlist for one of your classes, you have another class to compensate for and you’ll end up taking 4 classes anyway.
If you happen to get into all later, you can drop that additional class before the deadline as well.
