Waitpool questions

I was waitlisted for Thacher, and I'm just wondering if I actually have any chance of getting a spot. Has anyone else been waitlisted for Thacher either this year or previous years? If so, what happened?

I remember reading somewhere on these boards that Thacher took one person of the waitlist last year. It may help to know that my daughter will be removing her name from Thacher’s waitlist for this year since she was accepted to her first choice school. Hopefully that will move you up in the the process. Good luck!

Thank you, and I appreciate your feedback!

Any other experiences/words of wisdom?

Here’s a link to a post from someone who got off the Thacher wait list last year. It was on April 13.

And I believe that ThacherParent’s son got off the waitlist too - it was probably about 4 years ago or so.

Well that raises my hopes a little… my parents and I are deliberating about sending an email to the admissions office just saying how much I want to go and how committed I would be to being an asset to the school. Thoughts?

I do not know if it would help, but I don’t think it could hurt. If I was in your parents’ shoes, I would probably want to contact the school, confirm your extremely strong interest, and let them know if you were accepted, you would attend (if that is in effect true). I don’t think you need to “sell” yourself, though. They know what a great kid you are - that’s why you made it to the waitlist! However, if you do have some significant new information, it would be a good time to share it.

Perhaps ThacherParent can provide some insight.

I would also suggest that you repost your questions in the main “Admissions” thread. Lots of parents do not read the posts in the Chances thread at all.

Alright! Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it.
