Wake can be a safety for me, right?

Sorry, I know these get old but thanks to everyone who offers an opinion. I am applying Early Action and was wondering if Wake could be a safety school for me.

I took all the APs my schedule and counselor allowed this yr. Hopefully, I can pull the 2 APs im takin now up to A's but I'm being conservative in my assesment here. Once again, my counselor will check "most rigorous" because it is for my school.

Essays should be good. Call it B+ to be safe. Have gotten advice from many on here and think they ended up ok.

Teacher-Recs: Should be amazing. Teacher was thrilled and flattered at the opportunity to write them for me.

I know wake is a good school and very selective but I think my stats are a little above average for their matriculating student. Do you think I am a near-lock? Thanks!

I have very similar stats to you... I would say that Wake can probably be a backup, but I would also apply to UNC as a backup if I were you

I would guess that you'd be ok; however, be aware that Wake does not have a non-binding early decision plan. You may want to apply regular decision if you're using it as a safety.

(I would probably use UNC as a safety, too, just in case).

Actually Wake does have a non-binding early plan. It is exclusively for NC residents. Its new, i just got an email a few days ago about it. I apply by November 1st, receive my decision by January 15th, and its nonbinding.

Oh - I hadn't heard about that. It's been several years since I went through the application process. I think it's a great idea, though, since I know UNC does that...maybe they're trying to draw some more in-state applications.

i wouldnt call wake a "safety" for anyone. but its probably a "likely" maybe a target-low target.
