Nothing in Orlando
Nothing in OR
…and nothing in MI
Has anyone else noticed that like almost everyone who gets in has a 3.6 something unweighted GPA ? Idk, there’s so many. I’m hoping that means their review process is holistic.
After reading class of 2019 results thread, it looks like Wake has a serious case of Tufts Syndrome (rejecting or wait listing kids with higher than their average stats to increase matriculation rate, as they expect these kids have been accepted to better schools than them and will chose not to attend Wake). Just an assumption, but there are WAY to many kids with 2250+ SATs that were rejected or wait listed while tons were accepted with 30 ACT and 2000-2010 SAT.
@southeastkid Also remember that Wake heavily weighs in on supplements and interviews so it’s not just about test scores and gpa. Everything else I do agree with. Tulane does the same thing but the Why x essay does throw a lot of higher stats kids out of the process.
Accepted!
Here are my stats:
-SAT 2170 (770 CR, 740 WR, 660 M; 800 Lit, 650 Math I)/ACT 32
-UW 3.75, W 4.6, 9/198
-I do a lot of LGBT activism (started a GSA, intern at a nonprofit, enacted some policy changes at my school, received an award at local Pride)
-Also student chair of a literacy nonprofit, student director of a capella group, and lots more (minor journalism/chorus/theatre stuff)
-Essays were strong, I think. Common App was about LGBT activism. Top 10 was different ways people have described me (mostly funny stuff, a few “she is changing the way our community thinks and acts”-type quotes)
-Strong recs - one was a 10/10. Counselor barely knew me though
-Good demonstrated interest. 2 visits, sat in on a class. I have a cousin who used to work in admissions there who said he would write them on my behalf, not sure if he ever did it
-Good interview. Focused a lot on LGBT activism and literature. Got into contact with their head of LGBT office
-Accepted: Davidson (Belk semifinalist), Wake Forest, Chapel Hill (and Honors College), Duke, Oxford College at Emory
-Waitlisted: Johns Hopkins (decided not to apply halfway through and never actually submitted the writing supplements)
-Waiting to hear on Brown, Columbia, and Emory
Good luck to everyone still waiting to get their letter!
