Hello. Does anyone have any insight on Wake Forest vs. U of Richmond. Both schools are so similar!. I feel generally more comfortable when touring Richmond, i could see myself there. But it seems a little too serious and not enough school pride. I could see myself at Wake also, and it feels more fun, but it might be too big for me. I go to a very small high school. I am looking for a good liberal arts education but with a strong school spirit, strong sports where kids attend the games, and greek life. I dont mind working hard, but want to have time to have a life. Any advice?

I can’t address the U Richmond part of your question but I will tell you about my son’s experience at Wake. He is a Freshman, so take that into consideration.

So far, he loves Wake. He is a theater/history major. He sings in a choir, he is an actor for the director’s studio class, and he was cast in a play that ran in September. He was on a team that participated in the big Wake charity run this fall and he is planning on participating in Project Pumpkin, a campus-wide, Halloween service event. He tailgates with the theater house at football games (they have a dedicated spot) and he goes to most of the theater house parties. (There allegedly was a picture of him in a toga sent snapchat to his sister… when asked about it, he would only say that a good time was had by all). He attended a community theater production in Winston-Salem with a bunch of Wake kids and next week he said that he was going to go hear a guest speaker on campus. He tells me that almost all the guys on his hall play intramural/club sports and many of the them are anticipating going Greek. The frat parties at Wake are on campus and open to all, so there is always something in that vein to do on a weekend.

In a nutshell, at Wake there don’t seem to be a whole lot of people sitting around alone in their dorm rooms watching movies or playing video games.
