Wake Forest vs. Virginia vs. UNC CH

If anyone knows would you mind ranking these three schools from easiest to toughest to get into for an OOS.

Thanks so much!

Wake will be easiest. UVA/UNC will both be difficult for OOS.

Wake has a notoriously difficult workload. All are excellent with beautiful red brick campuses. UNC would probably be the toughest to get into because only like 10% of their students can be from out of state. Next would be UVA. Then WFU. Supposedly UNC gives out of state students an equal shake when they apply as transfers. Davidson is also a nice school in that region with red brick buildings. North Carolina State is in that area and is much much easier to get into than the others...nice safety net.

Wake is the easiest to get into.

UNC is really hard to get into OOS. Something like an 18% acceptance rate, I think. UVA is even harder.

Try NC State.

UVA is not "even harder" to get into OOS than UNC. UNC admits 21.8% of their OOS applicants, UVA admits 32.4%. UNC has quotas set for in-state students, meaning there are much less spots for OOS students. Only 18% of the freshman class can be OOS students, compared to UVA where about 1/3 of the freshman class is OOS.

But yes, Wake Forest is easier than both of these schools.

Both UNC and UVA (I believe) give a distinct preference in admissions to children of OOS alum.

2/3 of UVa students must be from Virginia, per the state legislature.

The admit rate for OOS students last year was about 30%.

Hope that helps!

"The Boards of Visitors or other governing bodies of institutions of higher education [in Virginia] shall not increase the current proportion of nonresident undergraduate students if the institution’s nonresident undergraduate enrollment exceeds 25 percent. Norfolk State University, Virginia Military Institute, Virginia State University, and two-year public institutions are exempt from this restriction."

4-2.01.b, Chapter 847, 2007 Acts of Assembly

Looks like UVA will be capped at 30% OOS until the legislature and BOV say otherwise.
