I’ve only taken the SAT–three times actually, and reading about the ACT confused me. Can someone explain a walkthrough (time, proctor situation, sections) and how generally how writing is graded? Thank you!
Ex. New SAT time will begin, you have about an hour and twenty for language arts section to read passages and answer questions, proctor tells you when time stops. 10 min break, then do math calculator for 40ish min then 5 min break and noncalculator for 30 min. Writing follows with 55 minutes, proctor always gives time updates.
For each section, the proctor will tell you how much time you have to complete the section at the beginning and will notify you when you have five minutes left. English test goes first, then Math, Reading, Science, and Writing if you choose to take it. There is a short 15-minute (or 10 i don’t remember) break between the Math and Reading sections. There is also one before the writing section to sharpen pencils. Times for each section are as follows:
English: 45 minutes
Math: 60 minutes
Reading: 35 minutes
Science: 35 minutes
Writing: 40 minutes
Writing is graded by two readers. It’s pretty complicated, but you can find the rubric on the ACT website.
