Walt Disney World - Shades of Green

has any SA parent checked out booking a vacation at Shades of Green at Walt Disney World with their child's military discount?

I am thinking of spring break.

What level/rank are our students?

Their rank is either cadet or midshipmen.

I made the reservations under my husband's eligibility, so I'm not much help. As I remember, cadet/midshipmen is not listed on the website reservation request. If you need to call, I have the pen here on my desk and the number is (888)593-2242. BTW, we had a great time!

Thank you!

Yes, the cadet/midshipman is not listed.

I will give a call. Thank you!

If it says "officer", go ahead and use it, so long as it doesn't specify a specific rank (ENS, LTJG, etc.).

Strictly speaking, Midshipmen and Cadets are officers. Exceedingly junior ones, but officers nonetheless. Many a Mid is surprised when they are saluted by enlisted during summer training.

And before anyone gets excited: It is REALLY bad form for a Midshipman or Cadet to stop an enlisted because they DIDN'T salute, so please don't try it. Accept it graciously when offered, and blow it off when it isn't. You haven't earned the right to be picky about it, yet.

Not sure about Shades of Green, but can tell you some others. The actual facility will give you the best information.
My son and his girlfriend stayed at a military lodging facility near the USS Constitution in Boston this past weekend. He was given the same rate as an E-5 would receive.

At the Soliders, Sailors and Airmen's Club hotel in NYC the cadets pay the same rate as E-1 thru E-4.

Wish Prayerfulmom wasn't having computer problems.... She knows something about this. Can't recall what she'd said exactly but it had something to do with USMMA kids being Naval Reserve & not active duty. Arrrrgg. Will have to call her & ask what she'd told me. No, I wasn't into the merlot again.

^^^^ not sure, but I know the mids are wearing a pin on their uniforms for "serving in time of war"....

It is not a "discount" the prices are a tier system. For officers it is not cheap. Young enlisted it is cheap, NCOs it is about what you would pay for the Holiday Inn.

Also spring break times are the hardest to get a room there. Jan, Sept. and Oct. are the best months to go.

My feeling has been to pay for a room elsewhere and let the young E-3s coming get the rooms cheap. They are paid so little and are the work horses in the military.
