Wannabe Rice Owl

<p>Haha, yes, I'm applying to Rice. I would you guys to evaluate my chances por favor.</p>

Valedictorian :D</p>

<p>GPA: 4.875 (My school only offers Pre-AP and AP, except for cake classes like Gym. Also, by the time I graduate, I'll have about 70 hours of dual credit with the local CC)</p>

<p>SAT: 2020 (I'm graduating in 3 years, instead of 4, so that score was taken as a soph)</p>

<p>PSAT: 200 (Last year. I'm taking it for real this year.)</p>

<p>EC's: Okay everybody, get ready! :P</p>

<p>Boy, that was a lot of work. LOL I have a bunch of volunteer hours---ranging from art cars to tutoring. If I apply to Rice ED or ID, what are my chances of getting an <em>acceptance letter</em>?</p>

<p>just so you know (I didnt know this until later on) dual credit courses WILL NOT transfer to credits at Rice. I would advise you to take the corresponding AP tests to them if you're interested in coming in with college credit. I wish I did that a few months ago......</p>

<p>To clarify: dual credit courses that satisfy a HS <em>graduation requirement</em> will not transfer. Conditions under which they might transfer:</p>

<ul>
<li>Course was taken as an elective</li>
<li>HS only required N units of a subject and the course was the (N+1)th unit.</li>
</ul>

<p>AP classes are fine and might cost you less than dual enrollment as long as you do well on the tests. Rice requires a score of 4 or 5 in order to receive credit for an equivalent course.</p>

<p>sat i has not been kind to you. Take the prep course for the same and take SAT I in fall. Otherwise, Rice can legitimately reject your application.</p>
