Im a sophmore at a school located in a small suburban town. The schools great but I still don't have friends, never go out, and am feeling pretty pathetic because of it. I really want to transfer to a college located in a city but due to finances, time, etc. it really seems like a bad idea. Am I getting my priorites mixed up? I just feel like a loser being a sophmore and yet have done nothing socially.

Have you tried getting involved in a club or organization on campus? It could be a good way to meet people and give you something to do. I got involved in a few things on campus and they usually have parties and socials as well, were you can get to know the people in it better.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying here, but will transferring to a school in a city make you more likely to join activities and clubs? Exactly how will being in a city improve your ability to make friends and be more sociable? There may be more people in the city or a larger school, but it's still up to you to make an effort to meet them.

well, around here, you can't do anything by yourself, and you pretty much need a car to get around. So being in a big city would at least give me some sort of social life, as there are more places to go. right now i just stay in my room, go to class, and go to the gym on campus. I literally RARELY go off campus.

I never go off campus either because there really isn't anywhere unless you drive about an hour and freshman aren't allowed to have cars. However, once I got involved I had things to do, like meetings, partys and volunteer oppertunities. Isn't there something you can do, go to a coffee shop, see a band play or something. Many nights my friends and I didn't have a party to go to or didn't feel like it and would just hang out and watch a movie or something, which was still a lot of fun. I do go to a big party school so there a little more to do. But, my point is that people at your school must do something for fun. If you get involved and meet people you will find things to do or you can still hang out in your room except with friends.
