If i want to do biochemical engineering but the school only has chemical engineering, what else can i minor or major or whatever to make up for it so its equivalent to biochemical eng? Or it doesn't matter in that biochemical and chemical will be the same?

It is very similar. Take a biochemistry minor and you have the same background as a biochemical engineer.

Some schools have concentrations for Chem E’s, like biochemical, petroleum, polymer, etc.

Whoa! What? It’s not the same.

Depending on what he wants to do within BME, MatSci, MechE, or EE would be the appropriate major, with some additional Bio or Chem classes. ChemE really isn’t similar at all with the exception that both BME and ChemE majors take some extra Chem classes that other Engineering majors don’t.

Vladenschlutte,

Biochemical enineering ≠ BME. It’s more like a specialization of chemE for agricultural processing, I am to understand anyway. It probably has some overlapping interests, like anything, and I may just not know what I’m talking about, but I think you may have just misread. Or I did.

Whoops. Simply misread that as Biomedical rather than Biochemical.

But wait. Would it really matter if i just want to make sure that I work at a pharmaceutical company someday??
