Ugh... CommonApp is down. It sucks.

I am having trouble paying for my app for BC. I know that it is pretty late at night but does anyone know a direct site?

Am I the only one on here that is not finished with their ED app? I have until 11:59 PM Nov. 1, right?

Great post, its definitely good to get apps done as early as possible.

It's important to read app guidelines carefully. Some schools have an "apply by" date whereas others have a "received by" date.

This is an important point. Resolve all doubts by sending in your application BEFORE any possible interpretation of when the deadline is.

drsarah:

If, by Nov 30, you mean UC apps, then definitely plan to submit them by the 28th. The UC server has crashed from overload on the 30th EVERY year since they started pushing online apps. Last couple of years, the server gets real slow on the 29th, but still works. When the crash is severe, UC has extended the app deadline for a day or two, but don't count on it.

Even MIT has had a crash on the due date for applications. Don't think it can't happen to you!

Many many many schools take late applications. The deadline is not a hard deadline in the sense that if you apply a day or two later you are automatically rejected. It would not be in the college's interest to reject a qualified candidate due to a slight tardyness of application alone.

my teachers submitted their recs offline and sent them in the mail so under school form status it says, Not All Submitted. is that ok?

But doesn't the Common App refuse to send if it's past the deadline?

I know from first hand experience, no ^

I submitted my app w/ arts supplement an hour past the deadline, then called the admissions office and they said it was alright.

However, this was a super-early early action deadline, so I don't know if they were more lenient with my case.

I've got a friend who hadn't written one of her Chicago essays as of today (the deadline). I can't imagine how stressful it would be sending in the application the day of!

I took today off from school to write a Stanford essay. Submitted around 2:00 = ). I wasn't really stressed at all.

Sent it in, and showed a friend my essay, and he caught a typo =(. I missed an "if" lol.

Haha I hadn't written both of my essays the day of... and idk if I wanna write an optional one or not =P

It's all the same to me however, I like spontaneous essays the best rather than overly thought-out essays

my application and payment status have been changed to downloaded but my supplemetn still only says submitted. that ok?

radyland - Is it an "all-in-1" institution? I had the same question and found an answer in the help section. It stated that both are downloaded at the same time but that only the application will say downloaded if it is an "all-in-1" institution. If you look at your list of colleges on the commonapp, an asterisk identifies the "all-in-1" institutions. Good luck to you!

Yes it is an all-in-1. wow thanks i really didnt know that. i guess i can stop refreshing the page waiting for it to update.

Haha, my friend submitted his Common App to Yale at 11:30 PM Oct. 31 and it didn't actually submit until 2:00 AM Nov. 1st.

Now I'm kinda glad I submitted my Penn app last Sunday and didn't wait until the last minute.
