hey im an ED applicant going to BU for the year 2018… im debating warren or west but dont know a lot about them… which is better for freshman partying? which has better accomidations? which is nicer in general? and how much of a pain is it to go on the T every morning for class?
Why would you waste the money to go on the t everyday? West is NOT far enough to warrant that, except if it is like -12 out.
From West to central campus you can walk or take the BUBus.
West is definitley better accommodations, partying, and overall nicer. The only plus to Warren is location and for meeting other freshman because it is where most end up.
@erinaa01 but is it still easy to meet other freshman in west?
Current freshman in Warren. Freshman partying is easier for West kids cause it’s closer to the frat houses. As a student with most of my classes in East, Warren is significantly easier. I know quite a few people who are in West and most of their classes are in East and the commute every day drives them crazy. So I say choose based on which school you’re in
Also, making friends is pretty even either way. Only main difference is that Warren has common rooms which makes it easier to interact with your floor
If you’re interested in partying, definitely stay in West. It’s just as easy to meet other freshman as it is in warren and the T stop is 2 min away from West. I take the T at least twice everyday and it’s no problem.
@laurrodes how much does the T cost…?
@sunflowerlover BU offers discounted student semester passes where you pay like $200 and get unlimited rides for a semester, otherwise it is about $3 a ride or $85 a month for a monthly pass
I still do not understand why you would take the T from west unless the weather sucks. Really not necessary. Only like a twenty min walk, at most.
@AwesomeAxolotl I don’t really like the idea of such a “long walk” (relatively compared to living at Warren) to classes anyway so I’ll probably be living in warren but I was just curious hahah
I’m going to be a freshman next year in Questrom. I really have no idea where Questrom is in relation to the residences though. Which is closer? Or would it be worth staying in one slightly further away with better accommodations?
Questrom is nearer to warren. West is only close to cgs, cfa, and sha.
Current BU student living in Warren and I can tell you that West is really not any nicer than Warren. If anything the rooms in Warren actually seem bigger because of how everything is laid out. So the only things I’d consider when picking between the two is whether or not you want a long commute to and from class, if being closer to the gym is important to you, and if you want to be closer to the party scene.
