I need to know about warren...since there is a high possibility i will end up there this fall. I've heard it's a grandma school. Any info will help...

Its a good school for engineers because of the low GE requirements. Wish I knew that earlier >_>

Warren is a good choice academic-wise, don't worry.

By the way, if you don't mind doubles, choose WARREN APARTMENTS! They are 100X better than the residence halls - you get a kitchen, split sinks/toilet/shower and a huge living room.

However, if you cannot stand to live in a double, then a single in the Residence Halls is your only choice. Yet your chances of the single are 50/50 - I'd go with the Warren Apts.

For the Warren Apts, is it 4 people to an apartment?

4 to 5 people, but usually you will get the double (much higher probability)

i heard that next year pretty much all of the warren apartment rooms will be converted to triples :O

Actually, check this out:

http://hds.ucsd.edu/warren/layouts.html

So at the residence hall there are 10 people living in there (4 in singles + 6 in triples). So assuming all 10 people want singles, your chances of single are actually 40%. But we all know not everyone wants a single, so your chances of single will be a little bit higher.

Plus not ALL doubles in the Warren Apts. were converted to triples this year, and any tripled room should be de-tripled with the expected low yield rate of next year's freshmen.

Still, I recommend the double at Warren Apts. if you can stand to live with another person. It's not that bad (you rarely see your roommate anyway during the day) roommate-wise.

what about the social aspect?

^ Yeah, I want to know too.

I'm more toward the shy side & not that great at making friends.. :(

Also... there's no double in res hall?? ouch.

ha. warren.... its hit or miss. most warren people i know tend to visit other colleges. when i visit my girlfriend her suite is usually almost empty or quiet or doing nothing... or viisting other suites or whatnot. go for engineering nerds! haha. i mean, seriously if you want to make friends uc an do so anywhere doesnt matter if you're in warren or erc or revelle. social aspect depends on you.

Hm. Most Warren people I know don't tend to visit other colleges. That sounds like Sixth to me. In my experience, some suites are social nodes and others are social antinodes. Some are full of people 24/7 and others are nearly always empty. It sounds like your girlfriend is in one of the latter.
