Hi all, I am having a tough deciding which university to go to. Would appreciate your feedback. Thanks !!
- University of Toronto : Rotman Commerce, major in Economics&Finance
- University of Warwick: Economics, Politics, and international studies
I am an International student from Singapore. Would possibly come back to Singapore at some point but would like to get international work experience first. I also have some offers from US but currently trying to decide between the above two.
Am thinking in terms of :
- University Reputation
- Job placements
- Ease of getting work visa
- University life
- Quality of education
The University of Toronto checks all of your requirements. Canadian university graduates are eligible for a 3 year work visa after graduation. Both the University of Toronto and Rotman Commerce are highly ranked. The university is in the middle of downtown Toronto and there is lots to do.
Biggest differentiator is that it’s easier for Internationals at Canadian unis to get a Canadian work visa than it is for Internationals at UK unis to get a UK work visa.
In terms of campus life, one is a city uni right in the middle of Toronto while the other is on a campus far from most places.
How would you rate them in terms of value of the degree?
The value of the degree will depend on where you want to be after the degree. Do you want to be in Canada or the UK?
The University of Toronto will be better known in the US and of course in Canada. In Europe or Singapore this could be very different.
Any university in Canada is going to be a win in terms of the ease of getting a work permit afterward.
The U. of T is quite a bit larger. Personally I would consider this a negative, but this is a matter of opinion.
