Was my housing offer canceled?

I was having some second thoughts about UCLA, and as a result I missed the deadline to pay my housing bill. However I was still able to make a late payment. The bruin bill system actually accepted my payment and it also posted the second payment. Does this mean I'm in the clear?Also, if I back out of the agreement, will my 125$ be refunded?

I also received an email telling me my housing offer had be canceled.

Did you call the housing office or whomever???

@2016Candles‌ I haven’t. I’m afraid that if I call them and my offer hasn’t been revoke, then they will revoke it on the spot.

So your plan is to do nothing, and hope for the best???

In life you need to be proactive. Here’s a phrase you will hear countless times in your life, if you are passive and reactive, rather than proactive: “if only you had let us know sooner, you would have had additional options”.

You need to call ASAP and find out your status.

Just call them.

You’re entering the UC system now. Got to step up, man.

@2016 You scared me worst than BurntCorpse did!

Don’t be scared, just be proactive.

Here’s a non school related example that I learned meant years ago the hard way:

You owe your electric complany $100 due June 1. June 20, they send you a final notice that says pay by June 30, or they will turn off your power. You absolutely don’t have the money. If you call them when you get the notice, 9 times out of 10 they will give you an extension to pay it later. If you wait until they cut your power, they’ll tell you the only way to get it back in is to pay your balance in full.

If you’re proactive and call them early, they can help you, but if you wait too long, there’s nothing to be done.

Listen to @2012Candles. He/She know the life hacks. What is wrong with calling? Communication is important and you can’t always rely on the staff to take care of you magically. They deal with hundreds- if not, thousands of student’s needs for housing daily. Be a Bruin material and call in.

@2016Candles‌

Damn. You seem to have gained quite a bit of wisdom from your life experiences. Hope I will, too, in time. :O

@CollegeDropout1‌ How are you doing? Believe in yourself and see yourself succeeding at UCLA. You can do it.

@Cayton‌
We’re all learning all the time. We’ll all make mistakes, but it’s how we recover that helps determine our growth.

I bet if you think back to the day you graduated HS, and compare that guy to who you are now, you’d be amazed by all that you’ve learned both in and out of the classroom.

@Calbro I’m been mostly ok, it is just the long nights where I have time to think that I start to over worry.

@2016Candles I called in the afternoon, and they said that my housing offer was still valid!

See-nothing scary :-)

Glad it all worked out @collegedropout1.
