Was this a mistake?

On my resume, I put down that I was part of the homecoming court this year...should I have done that? My hope was that the admissions officers could see that I was social and active and not just a marching band/orchestra/chemistry super asian. But i mean, homecoming court seems kind of pretentious and unimportant to put on a resume....?

Definitely not a mistake.

Putting it in your attached resume is perfect, I wouldn’t list it on the common app or try to hype it up too much, but listing it on the resume is fine.

It’s not really going to help you a great deal, it just shows another little piece of you. It also shows that you are revered by your peers, which is actually probably pretty important.

Right thanks! Idk, it just seems like a big popularity contest. All of the other people on court were football players :/

It absolutely is a popularity contest and that’s what makes it good. You are showing Harvard that you are popular among your peers in addition to all your other talents/traits.

I’m sure it won’t help you much, they will probably just blaze right over it without second thought, but its still worth putting down.

^ haha yeah, thats what I thought. I didn’t want to elaborate on it in case I sounded like a jerk or haughty, so I just put down “Homecoming Court 2011” :P
