Wash U Transfers 2015

I am and I saw you on the Cornell thread

rejected to olin

I just checked my online decision (didn’t get an email notification) and I have been rejected from the college of arts and sciences. I’m sorry I am in complete shock.

I attended two conferences the over the summer, hold legacy status, have a sibling who actually works there, met with the assistant Dean of the college of arts and sciences, went on a campus tour for students who attend St. Louis community college hosted by the head of admissions (even spoke with him regarding my interest), wonderful letter of recommendation, great essay. I’m sorry, just, what a huge disappointment. I really hope the best for any other applicants and when they say they may not have spots available, they don’t.

And yes, my stats were in range for what is considered competitive.

Rejected by Arts and Sciences the same day I was accepted to Tufts and Northwestern. At the end of the day, this process is a crapshoot

@plannedtransfer5 Hey, it’s me again. I’m sorry to hear that. Wish you every success in your other schools! I still didn’t get my decision. It is weird and I’m getting really nervous.

@arr1996 that’s great news, congratulations! (the northwestern and tufts acceptance). That’d be amazing to attend either one of those schools

Just wanted to say (for any future transfer applicants that may read this), please do not ever get discouraged from applying to a school nor by any means give up from one or even many rejections. It’s not our accomplishments that define us, but how we overcome our failures. @Moooon thank you so much for the support. The school was not a good match for me, so in the end it is the best! I wish you the best as well and wherever you attend, you will be and do great!

I guess Wash U has a really weird taste in selecting students. I’ve heard a lot of competitive applicants were rejected this year. Maybe it is because of the slots. But I also feel Wash U cares a lot about yield rate. It’s just cannot afford to be rejected by so many great students. @plannedtransfer5
Just a guess, no means to offend.

Oh slots available is definitely the dominating factor (for transfer applicants) but why are you apologizing lol I didn’t find that offensive, you’re fine lol

I’m afraid those who got accepted will think of my words as offensive when they look at this thread. Hope they don’t.
Well, to tell the truth, a friend of mine was accepted two days ago. He also intended to major in architecture. The point is, he had lower GPA and standardized test scores than me, and his application was completed about two weeks later than me. My portfolio (required for architecture applicants, basically includes drawings and design works) is better than his. What’s more, he is not even an architecture student but I am. Can you understand how I feel (crying)… @plannedtransfer5
And I doubt there won’t be any slots when they look at my application.

@Moooon nahh, they’re fine lol but honestly the worst thing you can do at this point is compare yourself and question because the process is honestly so ambiguous. Keep your head up and do NOT dwell on what you think may be going on because that will just make you miserable. If you’d like some peace of mind, you may find that the hardest college to get into for transfers is the college of arts and sciences so you have that. Don’t worry about the slots, don’t worry about the statistics, and most of all, (worst case scenario you do not get in) don’t give up. it wasn’t meant to be and the opportunities you are intended to find are elsewhere (for a reason).

Hey I am new here. I submitted and received a email telling me that the decision wold be made within eight weeks in early March, but still received nothing yet. How long should I wait, or should I call

@snapsnapsnap When was your application complete? Mine was complete on Mar 3rd and I’m still waiting (it has been nine weeks already. But they emailed me yesterday telling me my decision would come out soon). I think you should call your application processor or the undergraduate admissions office. By the way, don’t forget to keep checking the pathway. Good luck!

Just got accepted to Sam Fox. Best luck to those still waiting.

@Moooon ,thank you so much. I completed on March 2nd and received email on March 9th. Congradulations on you acceptance!

@Moooon Did you receive mail first or email first when you received the admission letter

@snapsnapsnap I got an email from my application processor because I asked when my decision would be released. Then I checked the pathway and saw my decision. But the formal notification email hasn’t come yet.

I’m an international student. I guess I have to wait for another one or two weeks to get the mail. Hope this helps! @snapsnapsnap
