@vikuya1 Hey go check out our other topic under Washington University for ED applicants. You can keep up with the (literally) hundreds of comments people have made and conclusions that have been jumped too regarding the date of the release of decisions! Maybe you will find something useful. Although its turned into a bit of a conspiracy based bet at this point, it’s still a great thread, and we have folks with tons of experience with WashU (current students, Alum, parents of students etc…)
@Jjlghv73 Thank you for the reply. That is great information, but it is still a bit scary to take that chance. I hope that you are accepted as it is clear you really want to go there. Good Luck!
My son doesn’t have any ACT or SAT scores yet, but we expect them to be in the 33-35 and high 1400’s to low 1500’s range based upon past standardized tests taken (PSAT and pre-ACT), so hopefully it works out for him.
I guess we will have to wait and see. I will look around some of the other topics on WashU and see if I can find anything that past scholarship winners did that they think was important towards getting a particular scholarship. If my son is interested in it and it is doable, then we will most likely try it.
Thanks again!
@liecdre Sounds good. Hope everything works out in your favor.
@Winky1 Sounds like I am in the same boat as your daughter. I also applied to the Psychological and Brain Sciences track, and will be applying to the Danforth Scholarship (that is, if I get in/get deferred ED).
Well if you are anything like her, @jeepgirl3, you are awesome! Good luck to you as these decisions come this week! And those essays for the scholarships are no joke!
Hi Everyone, Happy New Year. Since the deadline is coming up for the merit scholarships, I was wondering if anyone knows when Wash U notifies it’s finalists? In March? Thanks.
@Winky1 March sounds about right. Scholarship finalist weekend is the first weekend in April.
Scholarship notification usually occurs around the first of March, as it has to be early enough for finalists to plan their trip to WashU for finalist/interview weekend, which is March 22-25 this year.
But I thought the timeline said mid feb for the Rodriguez Scholars and end of feb for the Honorary Program?
I honestly don’t know what timeline you’re referring to; if you could provide a link we could take a look. I just know last year portals were updated March 1st. Maybe they’ll be updated a week earlier this year because the application deadline was a week earlier and scholarship weekend is a week earlier.
I did see it somewhere back in December when I was applying. I’ll try looking for the link to post it on here
@IntApp2022 I know what link you’re talking about, but you can’t access it any more. I believe it is in Feb.
@caleegalee I hope so! I can’t wait till March :-S
@IntApp2022 OK, my bad. I checked from last year’s posts, and the finalists were announced on March 2. 8-|
@caleegalee Maybe this year it’ll be early. fingers crossed
I think I read somewhere that some received a call the day before results came out on the portal. So answer calls on Feb 28!
When you say: “… finalist/interview weekend, which is March 22-25 this year”. Certainly you aren’t there for 4 days. Assuming it’s just 1 day in that range, is it usually flexible (your choice)? DS already has a scholarship competition at another school that Saturday, but it’s only a few hours from St. Louis, so ‘IF’ he makes it that far for the WashU scholarship I’m hoping he can do both.
I am under the impression you go for the whole time specifed. However, I would certainly call them if he winds up a candidate for 2 major scholarships at different schools. That would be awful if they are on the same weekend.
You are there for the full time! Some scholarships are perhaps one day shorter, but my weekend was Thursday evening to Sunday morning. So really, it’s more like two and a half full days. You are required to be there for the whole weekend, barring some unforeseen event. That said, you can always talk to them and they will most likely try to accommodate you.
I understand that conflicts suck; I finally made my state math competition for the first time senior year, but I had to withdraw because it was the same weekend as scholarship weekend. I decided a quarter of a million dollars was worth more to me than representing my school district at states. It wasn’t a difficult decision, but a painful one nonetheless.
Does anyone know whether scholarship notifications always release on a Friday or Saturday?
