Washington University in St. Louis's University Scholars Program - does anyone have any information on it? I read the site, but I would like personal opinions on how the program is, what makes it special, is it better than other programs like it, etc. The MCAT and GPA requirements for graduate school etc. seem pretty hard.
Does that mean it's easier to get in than other progs like NU'S HPME or Rice/Baylor but harder to stay in and get to med school?
Thank you!

USP is a joke. Seriously. I think I read that they take like 5 people out of thousands that apply. And even then you have to keep up like a 3.8 and a 36 MCAT, which is just ridiculous. It would be wiser, if you wanted to go to WUSTL for medicine to just go the regular route. That way you're not locked in to one place. Sorry for being harsh, but that's what I've heard; its really not worth it -- my opinion.

yea ive been researching today, and that's what it seems like to me. i was just wondering if there was actually a WUSTL scholar or someone here that could tell me their side of the story.

dude, with a 3.8 gpa and a 36 mcat, you would stand a good chance (probably a great chance) at harvard med school and you would probably get into any other US med school. Unlike most programs, this one is not worth it.

i went to washington u for an overnight stay, and i stayed with a person doing pre-med. he said that there are only 5 students who get into the USP, and you have to maintain a 3.8 GPA and get a 36 on MCAT. he introduced me to a person who is doing USP in medicine, and he says it's impossible. they're saying that no one has ever gotten past those requirements, because getting a 36 on MCAT is like getting a 37 on ACT (from what i hear that is). all this is what my friend who goes there told me. i am applying for USP at WashU, but i will prolly just do the regular route.

foodisgood: Wash U is ranked #4 or something for medicine. so going to wash u for graduate is as good if not better than going to harvard or yale.
