WashU Early Decision Class of 2016

@stresseddad

I think there is some truth to that 500 number. I don’t remember where I heard it, but I would assume that they mentioned it at the on-campus information session.

Have any ED applicants been emailed by professors from Wash U regarding their intentions or how they envision their education if they are admitted to Wash U? My s received such an email and was curious if this was common.

Hey guys,

I just felt kinda left out not being on this site. I’m in the ED pool as well. I’m not gonna post my stats now or anything cause I’m pretty much in the same boat as all these other people on the forum. I just wanted to wish good luck to everyone and I hope we’re classmates next year!

Same here. Good luck everyone :)

@stresseddad

When did your son receive the email?

right after his early ap went in.

I got an email from two different faculty members (in two separate departments) back in August and September. Not sure if it was the same thing you are talking about though (I submitted my app in November).

stresseddad, hah, looking at your screen name, I can’t imagine how stress is stressedSon LOL. Anyway, don’t read too much into the letter. It’s just one of the marketing tools at their disposal.

It feels great logging into pathway and seeing “your application is complete” on the site. we have anywhere from 3 weeks to a month to go before we hear from admissions! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. i’m scared. good luck everyone!

Does anyone know if there’s a way to confirm that they received your fall grades? I told my registrar to send them on my transcript, and my application says that it’s completed on the WUSTL Pathway (yes, it does feel great, applicationshurt), but does this mean I’m good to go? Or does the WUSTL Pathway not take into account fall grades?

I’ve emailed my application processor (Wednesday of last week, I think?) but still haven’t gotten a response.

Email is probably the best way to go. I am trusting that my counselor (who said she sent the grades through common app AND faxed them) took care of everything:)

Yeah I had a similar question to cowboycliche022, so I emailed my application processor and she replied in a day to tell me that they’d received my grades. I’ve emailed about 7 people from wash u and each time they’ve replied in a day or two. Who’s your app processor? it’s weird that he/she hasn’t replied in so long O_O. maybe check to make sure it sent? or call their office for a quicker response.

I applied ED as well, good luck to everyone.

Hmmm…it’s been about 10 days since I emailed my application processor (Kate Knepper). No response.

I’ll try calling tomorrow. This is starting to become worrisome…

Anyway, thanks for the help, guys!

@cowboycliche022

Good luck hopefully everything works out. Good news though because the email said that the deadline for fall grades is November 30th, so you still have time.

Cowboy, I called. Glad I did. My grades from the first marking period where on my transcript. They had just logged it in as transcript received. She pulled it up while on the phone with me and noticed the Sr. year grades. She made the update on their application system.

GL all. I applied ED as well.

So…

According to Student Life ([Admissions sticks with early decision | Student Life](Admissions sticks with early decision - Student Life)), about 30% of the incoming class is accepted through ED, which means around 420 people will be accepted through ED (30% of the approx. 1400 incoming class = 420). So, as someone estimated earlier, only around 500 people applied ED. Now, that number does seem rather accurate for WashU (but, since WashU is growing in popularity, one can assume that number will increase). However, even if that number does increase, it appears as though the ED acceptance rate would be even higher than 50%.

That does make me feel a little relieved :)

*These numbers are only an estimate of the ED admissions stats and can be far from what may end up happening, since numbers do somewhat change each year…

About 500 applicants are accepted ED, but many more apply. Also, the incoming class in closer to 1,500 students so this number seems like a good estimate.

Good luck to you (though you might need a new username :slight_smile: )!

Oh…my bad :(

Nevertheless, we can still hope for a high ED acceptance rate!

I sure hope so!

We should come up with a game to pass the time…
