Honestly, they're all phenomenal schools. I haven't found much that I truly dislike at any of them. Plus, they all have renowned natural sciences programs and pre-med records. But how to choose between them?! Anyone care to weigh in?

Have you visited them? Stayed at an overnight? Which can you see yourself spending the next four years of your life?

See, that’s the problem. I’ve visited them all, in some cases twice or more, and can really see myself at any of them. What I’m concerned with is balancing the potential for an incredible 4-year college experience with the best med-school preparation that can be had between the three schools.

i don’t know much about duke or northwestern. honestly, you probably can’t make a bad decision between the three. that said, think about what you want to do in college and what kind of environment you want. how much do you care about big sports, what kind of things outside of the classroom do you want to get involved with, like research and student groups and performances, food, housing, advising, professors, financials and scholarship differences, city-life, surrounding community, student life, greek life, distance from home, the fact that washu premeds aren’t cutthroat but cooperative and supportive, etc.

i would recommend talking to current students. or check out the 101 reasons to attend washu thread, which i think gives a good approximation of our student culture and environment.

What did you do when you visited? Tours and information sessions don’t really help that much. What does help is sitting in on 3-4 classes, eating in the campus dining facility, and if possible overnighting in a dorm. Then, you’ll begin to pick up what kind of vibe each has.
