Watch Beijing Olympics At 7:30, Msnbc

YAY, after 7 years, 7 years of waiting, Beijing Olympics is finally here!!!!

: ) very exciting.
i love the medals this year!

Indeed!!!!!
Omg They Have Like 2008 Drumming! And I Almost Cried When The Cute Kids Sang. Awww

That drumming introduction was amazing.

And how about that unfolding LED screen? That is giant.

EDIT: OMG IT'S FLOATING! MAGIC TV!

LOL YEAH
They are going to have like ppl holding scroll and stuff
Can't wait how they gona portray contemporary Chinese history! are they going to have a bunch of kids waving mao's book? lol

Omg!!! They Did It With People!!!! Lol

There were people. In those rectangular prisms.

That was impeccable precision.

geez, those ppl running in circles O_o

they ran in rows of alternating opposite directions and didn't crash head-on into one another. i totally admire that.

and i agree, the drumming intro was BRILLIANT. zhang yimou is a genius. I especially loved the last 10 seconds of the drumming countdown, with both the Chinese and our usual Arabic numerals. The most dramatic moment for me - the one that gave me goosebumps - was the display of the number "1", because the Chinese symbol for 1 is simply "1" rotated by 90 degrees. It's easily understood by everyone around the world and basically symbolises that Chinese and the rest of the world are one and the same.

I don't have cable. I am jealous... Looks like the opening ceremony's really awesome.

I did watch a few clips on YouTube, but they were all really short.

some random note:
the long unfolded screen in the middle was meant to be a classic scroll with "drawings" that show the ethos of different era.
the up-and-down rectangular prisms have a flipped character on each of them, and was meant to represent the early printing tech.
The drums are exacly the same kind as what people played to welcome guest like 2000 years ago.

I love the design of the whole thing ^-^ <3
