water

is there bottled water available in BS cafeterias?

Not at Exeter, but we shouldn't buy bottled water anyways. all that plastic... Get a durable water bottle and you can fill it up at dhall. (but not nalgene.... something toxic in those... i don't remember much)

Not as SPS either.

well exeter does give athletes bottled water (among other beverages) for away games

oh okay thanks.

Do not drink Exeters town water..its really disgusting hahahah

water fountains have filters

ottled water is the same as tap anyway. I do not like to buy bottled water, but we did purchase a case every now and then for my son while he was at school so he could keep it in his room. He has a thing about drinking water from the bathroom and those were the only taps in the dorm. We are lucky in that our town water is from a small spring-fed pond and is minimally treated. Most of the bs in this mentioned on this board are from fairly rural, unpolluted areas; I would not be concerned about the water.
Many of the schools focus on being green, and bottled water does not really jibe with that.

Bottled Water Is The Same As Tap Water?

Bottled Water Isn't Healthier Than Tap, Report Reveals

To summarize,
- The plastic creates a ton of garbage, and consumes a lot of energy
- It's more expensive to drink bottled water
- estimated 25% of bottled water is really just tap water in a bottle
- the minerals found in some bottled waters are dangerous to babies
- some plastics leach chemicals into our water (not in that article)

NOT at Exeter, though-- do not drink tap water at Exeter, like sullivan09 said. One of my dormmates invested in a Brita filter for the dorm, though, and the water tasted just like bottled water (if not better) after it went through the filter. D-hall water is good too. Some dorms and the music building has poland spring in the water bubblers.

ahhh, thanks for that tuesdayair..
just wondering though, does Exeter have some sort of plastic bottle recycling system?

Exeter water is okay for rinsing after brushing your teeth, right?
Why is Exeter water so bad?

Exeter's big on recycling. You can find recycling bins almost everywhere. However it's questionable whether the facilities staff are educated on recycling and whether the bottles/paper we sort actually get recycled.

yes it's fine for rinsing
I think it's because Exeter's a historical town and the piping system is old. I'm actually not sure on this one though.

No, its not polluted it just tastes really bad. No one in exeter drinks out of the foucet, they all drink like bottled water

Yeah I'm sure it's okay to drink --it has to be, I would think, for it to be approved...but two years ago my chem teacher stored the water for a couple of weeks in a clean beaker and it turned yellow-ish and really gross.
