I PMed you. Btw 5 people have joined the fb group. A couple are not in as they are undecided.

I was an admitted MedStart student from the original fifteen. Since then, I was waitlisted at my top two choices for schools (Ivy Leagues). As of now, I’ve committed to the MedStart Class of 2015. However, I’m going to see how the waitlists turn out, and if they turn out in my favor, then I may potentially give up my spot to someone on the alternate list. I am also aware of 1 or 2 others in the same situation as me. So for those of you who do not receive a positive notification within the next few weeks, and are dying to get into MedStart, do not lose ALL hope. Waitlist decisions come out through June, so you MIGHT (keyword might), receive a call mid-summer congratulating you on your acceptance. There is still a small ray of hope.

Though this is the case, I must say that getting off the waitlists at these schools are extremely difficult (I was waitlisted at Harvard, my top choice), so I am most likely going to be attending MedStart. But nonetheless, I am extremely psyched to be a freshman at Wayne Medstart this fall. It is an excellent program, and I am beginning to see day after day how lucky I am to have received this opportunity. So for those of you on the waiting list for MedStart, even though there is still a chance you may get in, I encourage you to fall in love with the schools that you were accepted to. If you have come this far, I’m certain you guys have some excellent choices, (A friend of mine on the waitlist made it into Cornell, and he’s very happy, as am I for him). And even if it isn’t a top 20 school or another BS/MD program, you guys are all great students. Though it may sound cheesy, getting accepted, waitlisted, or rejected from a program does not change that.

Best of luck to all of you still waiting!

sooo i am alternate number 15 and i was just accepted into the program, i received a call at approximately 5 pm. I am truly ecstatic and i cannot wait to be a part of this program, and i want in on the fb group, add me dudes. I cannot believe this happened, i had given up hope, because i had great stats 2350 sat, 35 act, 4.33 gpa, i was captain of varsity soccer, basketball, and i was president of nhs, stuco and my model un club. I did four years of research at uofm cardiology. I also helped build houses in papua new guinea and i also worked in a hospital in azerbaijan, and also aided in surgery. I will be seeing all of you next year, and even though i have received PLME at Brown i prefer to go to wayne because i get scholarship and i love detroit. WOOT MEDSTART!!! LIFE IS GONNA BE GOOD

Schfinx: Thank you for your kind words and congratulations on getting into MedStart =) Everything happens for a reason and it’s truly Harvard’s loss You’re a great kid!

Pugboy:…I smell a ■■■■■…-_-

UPDATE: there are 6 members in the group now. Two more are waiting on financial news from other schools. We’re in talks already.

I agree. Lol. I’m asking for proof by PMing him. No response yet. ■■■■■■ are unecessary. Great attitude about this whole thing though 1337princess.

In Original 15 Spots : 5 Accepted, 3 denied, 7 not responded.
In Alternate 3 : 1 accepted. 2 not responded.

I am sure that there is no call for Alternate candidates other than first three.

If some one has latest Stats , let us know.

I am curious as to where these statistics about acceptances and declines are being posted. Is there a site at Wayne State Honors College that is providing this detail.

One just committed yesterday, so there are 7 in the fb group. I know 11 who have gotten in. One has said that they will wait until the last min to turn it in. I’m not sure why. I know two who will decline. Some kids in the fb group have not mailed their contracts yet i don’t think.

Yes mymeds where are these stats from?

Almost all in the first 18 ( 18 -3 = 15) accepted the Medstart offer .
Alternate candidates ( including me ) have ultra slim chances.

Good luck to accepted candidates.

How do you know this? Any still yet unresponded?

are there any chances of someone dropping in mid-may and Ms. Galster contacting alternates? Or is that very slim as well? It does really vary year to year then, because in the past they’ve gone much deeper into the alternates list and fairly quickly too! I suppose it’s a good thing because more and more students are realizing how much Wayne has to offer.

@Mymeds: have you been contacting Ms. Galster directly for the stats?

One person accepted into the program and going next year received an email from Ms. Galster today saying that only two spots are up in the air. The three alternates who received acceptances have already said yes. She said she should have the full list by Monday. There is a chance one person who was waitlisted at an Ivy could drop out in June if they are accepted to that school.

Troy Students can make miracles.
Lot of students those who accepted into Medstart are from Troy. Nearly 70 % from Same city.
It is amaging news to us.
REally they did good job in capturing such a portion of seats.

^^ Nearly 70 % of 15 equals roughly 10. Hard to imagine that students from Troy would capture 10 out of 15 seats. Would be interested in knowing more details.

No, this year there are only 3 students from Troy. One doesn’t go to a school in the dostrict though.

There are three High schools from Troy. Out of three one is IAE. Two are regular schools.
Three are form IAE school. what about other schools ? There are some more in alternate list also.
How ever TROY schools are some of the MI best schools. We can say Troy students are
much better than any other common students in the state.
In general Troy students are much advanced in any academic and co-academic activities.
I feel they are my healthy compitetors.

IAE is great school with all IB subjects( AP classes).
Troy Kids are lucky.

IAE just opened up. They don’t have a senior class yet. One person who lives in Troy and goes to IA in bloomfield will be there, so 4 people total from Troy got in.

I still don’t understand why the last date to choose is May 1st when that is the day to commit to other schools as well. I feel for the people 4th and 5th on the initial alternate list because they must be in such a difficult situation. One can always back out of schools, but I feel like there is necessary stress on those few in those borderline alternate seats. I’m not in one of those positions, but I would be pretty frustrated if I were.

The deadline for the top 15 and others to choose should have been around April 20th.

OK well Nancy just called and I am in the program. Can someone link me to FB group.

I am still thinking about it…arghrarghaghadsjfgadslfk idk what to do
