We can't trust the results threads?

It seems like a fair portion of the people posting have less than 10 posts in total. I would say the vast majority has under 100. What do you guys think? Are these stats actually reliable? Would you say less than 50% are true? Thanks.

I don’t see any correlation between the number of posts on CC and honestness of a person. Of course, some of those stats may be fake, but why do you think a person with 1000+ posts cannot lie?

Plus, who posts results? Admitted kids who have previously been lurkers. From reading the various Ivy results threads, you get a skewed view of how many are in. Most rejected CC kids never post their rejection.

Ultimately, there is nothing statistically useful about the results threads anyway. Consider the small sample and the nature of self-reporting… ini that sense, nothing is trustworthy. Take it for what it is: a very tiny sample by strangers.

I’m sure we get a few liars and trolls every year. And T26E4 is correct that most of the rejected kids don’t post results, so it’s impossible to regard the CC Results threads as any sort of scientific sample. But where they are useful is in showing you what an accepted applicant looks like - what sorts of the stats and achievements does it take. And it’s useful to look at the rejected students’ profiles too, to see that high stats and and achievements do not guarantee success either. It’s sobering to see the qualifications of those that don’t get in.
