So I see it is supposed to rain on move-in weekend. Is the summer rain in Ithaca cold or just where you can wear whatever and have an umbrella or light jacket? Thanks!

depends on the day and on the wind. i’d bring a light jacket or a hoodie with you to ithaca. and definitely use an umbrella.

It should be mentioned that most umbrellas don’t stand a chance against the wind in Ithaca. I’d seriously consider buying a windproof umbrella…that is, if you don’t already own one. =]

its true…umbrellas are useless! I wouldn’t worry too much about the summer rain its not bad.

The worst is when you are late for a class in like march and its the day before a prelim so you know the prof is just going to be reviewing for the test and its 36 degrees out and pouring frigid rain that blows in all directions because of the horrible wind and the line for the bus outside of helen newman is 50 people long so you end up 20 minutes late, miss the clicker question, and get sick (which means you do badly on the prelim) :)

^lol Jeez dude, don’t scare her! Although that is pretty bad. :P

I’m definitely worried now guess I’ll have to learn to love rain haha

^^^ We are going to be the wimpy west coasters wearing wool coats in september

I’m planning on transfering from so cal into the spring semester. Assuming I get in, sudden mid January Ithaca weather is going to be the death of me.

that is not scaring…that’s the truth…but obviously the whole thing about being late is the OPs fault…

getting sick is not though…stress does cause ill health

^It is the truth, and sometimes the truth is scary. Just sayin’. The weather isn’t great, but people learn to deal with it. I know I have.

How do you keep your things from getting wet when walking to class?!

I use a waterproof backpack, and most of my friends do too.

northface backpacks are waterproof…

not sure if columbia and jansport are…

but even with a non-waterproof one i’ve managed…the outside might get ugly though…
