Of course, I can't stop anyone. People will always do it. I just don't believe it should be used for merchandising.

I think we should use anything for revenue that we possibly can right now. The economy sucks and who knows how much we could make from weed taxes? Plus, we don't have to shoulder the cost of weed raids by the DEA. I think it should be legal with the same taxes, rules and regulations that cigarettes follow (for example the no television commercials policy).

^A projected 1 billion a year in California alone. And it will be regulated like alcohol not cigarettes in California. Jeez, can anyone look up AB 390 before posting?

stop saying weed is more effective than morphine as a painkiller because that is just wrong. I have had both and there is no comparison; doctors administer morphine drips instead of some THC substitute for a reason. That being said, I wholeheartedly support weed for medicinal and recreational use.

I go to a small school where a very large majority smoke frequently and know quite a few people with their "medical cards". It would take ages to classify the different personality types that smoke weed, and just because my friends and I smoke frequently does not necessarily mean we are dull in other respects. A close friend of mine got a 2240 on his SAT the first time without studying and he smokes 5-6 days out of the week. This doesn't mean that there are not negative cognitive effects, but it is not noticeably detrimental if balanced with reading and other mental exercises to sharpen your brain. People forget how plastic the brain is, and someone who spends their time playing piano, reading, and studying subjects that interest them are far better off than the person who refrains from smoking weed but does not stimulate their brain.

you can hallucinate if you get really stoned

bonus points for unsubstantiated claims?

@sigurros

Cannabis has psychedelic properties. Either you have high tolerance, or you are poser/misinformed/idiot. So bonus points to YOU for unsubstantiated claims.

hahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

go trip on weed kid

edit: I suppose I should stop being so condescending, I was picking on your use of the term hallucinate. Based on structural properties (Cannabinols) it is classified as a hallucinogen, but you do not "hallucinate" as if you were on shrooms, dmt, lsd, mescaline, or whatnot..

Weed can cause mild vision problems. Not typical hallucinations. If you are high enough that you are hallucinating, you are most likely not going to remember the hallucinations. If you do remember them, and they were vivid or complex, then you were not just smoking weed.

I don't mean hallucinations the sort you get from drug use, but you do get hearing or visual "illusions". And time seems to pass more slowly. Distortion of perception, that's hallucinating.

Alright well yah I agree with the whole distortion stuff, but in the spectrum of drugs it is pretty negligible and I think some people on CC have an exaggerated view of this stuff so I'm sure you understand <33

edit: so cal or nor cal

nor cal bay area.

bzzzzzzzt I'm sorry the correct answer was Mormonnnnnn

Yah thats chill, I'd like to make a trip up there sometime I haven't been there since I was like 8. I'm going to preemptively ignore the negative vibes that will resonate from me saying I'm going to leave the house right now to go smoke a spliff. Toodle-loo

dude I do not need facts to support that although if you wanted them I'd be more than happy to give you them. I did a paper on weed last year...weed makes you stupid. And i find it really ironic that weed is a topic on a site like this where half of the people want to get into top colleges and boarding schools lol but thats just me!

It does not make you stupid. You were using incredibly biased sources if that's what you came up with. If it made you stupid, why would so many doctors endorse (and use) it?

well i actually got a 97 on the paper but thats besides the point. of course there are more eloquent words i could use to describe the effects weed has on the body. and when doctors recommend it to patients they are more worried with getting them better than the effects it has on the brain.

weed has its pros
but when it comes down to it - weed impairs short term memory, kills brain cells, slows down reaction time etc

First, a good grade doesn't mean you used reliable sources.

Second, that is not even remotely close to making you stupid. If that is your criteria, then a beer makes you stupid. Nobody ever said weed was good for you, but it far from makes you stupid.

Then you most certainly have not met my history teacher.

and second there is no need to argue i was simply stating my opinion. everyone is entitled to one, no?

An opinion would be "I dislike mj because I think it impairs short term memory and damages brain cells". You shouldn't come in here, which so far has been mostly pro-mj, and stating that it does something when you don't have all of the facts. So yes, you can state your opinion, but don't state it in a way that would provoke posters in this thread. Or you'll get angry responses :)

I've smoked before, I smoke only once in a while, however.. The positive effects outweigh the negatives.. Lost of people smoke it at my school..
