"Weekend at Washington Square" same thing as invite?

Hey all! I was just wondering if the "Weekend at Washington Square" was just a follow-up to the "Sunday at the Square" invite that a lot of people received. Since they're on different weekends, does NYU expect us to choose one to go to? :P I'm confused...

.....odd. have you checked old threads posted around this time of year to see if thye received this?

maybe it's the equivalent of Sunday at the Square for GSP? Or maybe it's a second batch? Did you get a sunday at the square thing already?

Yes, I got the Sunday at the Square invite about 3 days ago from Gallatin. This weekend event seems like it's a chance for "coming" students to meet undergrads who already attend.... supposedly you even stay in a dorm for the weekend? not sure ;p

this whole process for NYU has been odd. The Sunday invite was just so... random almost, because it doesn't say anything about it on the website, nor does the invitation itself have any personal message like "Welcome to Gallatin!!" Instead, all we get to decipher is "for outstanding students in the entering class of 2006" ... Hmm!!

I thought the Weekend at the Square was a big scholarship thing... I might be wrong so don't get excited...

I remember someone on this board said that weekend invites are handed out to people who will most likely get merit scholarships...I'm sure NYU won't confirm this, but is there anyone here who got the invite last year that can explain?

What exactly is a merit scholarship? I didn't apply for Financial Aid :/

yeah, i got both the sunday and the weekend thing, thisd be good news if that were true. how many people usually recieve the invites a year?
merit scholarships based on grades, resume, etc., and doesn't take into account how poor you are.

That's amazing, and good news as well! NYU is ungodly expensive... lets hope that these weekend invites are more than just orientation days :)

would any happen to know, though? if its true about the merit thing. if anyone got it from last year and is willing to shed some light, much obliged

Is the weekend in the square just for gallatin students? I've looked through NYU's website and I can only find weekend information on the Gallatin sections.

I think the Sunday in the Square encompasses all the schools, while the weekend event (excluding Dean's weekend people) only involves Gallatin students. I'm not really sure if it means merit aid; it probably just means that you got into Gallatin.

That's genius, checking the NYU site and all! You're probably right, seeing as how I'd expect a LOT more people asking about the weekend-at-the-square thing if it was through all of the schools. Phew-

so is this like a likely letter or something. if its not then i say shame on NYU. asking people to come and then not accepting would definately be something id be ****ed about...but whatever i live on the other side of the country so its not like i can attend anyways

naw youre only invited if they decided to accpt you. thats how its been in past years.

I don't that weekend is only for Gallatin students. I was on the NYU website and they're listing Tisch to have Saturday at the Square too that same weekend.

kids from CAS have also been getting it
