weighted GPA?

My school's doesn't list weighted GPA on transcript. Will the colleges that I apply to calculate its own, or will it estimate by my classes and grades?

BTW, do top privates count all classes through all grades for GPA? What exactly is the way that these school calculate weighted GPA? What kind of classes and what grades?

Thanks.

There is not a set answer to this questions. Colleges take many different approaches. Most don't look at weighted grades because high schools have so many different weighting methods and some high school don't weight at all. Some admissions offices will take your grades at face value and not re-weight. Some have their own system known only to them. Some will count all your grades, others will discard any class that is not considered a college prep class such as PE or Band. Some will discount freshman year, others won't. Your transcript is what it is and each school will evaluate it differently.

It usually says it on their website or on the application. Generally it's 10-11 grade and you only get a maximum of 8 extra points for AP/Honors classes.

^Isn't that only for UC schools?

virtuoso_735 - My bad, I thought I mentioned UC in there somewhere.
